I’m not sure how they figured these
numbers out before the end of the calendar year, but according
to the U.K.’s Office of National Statistics, the top
baby names of 2007 in England and Wales were Jack and Grace.
Jack has now been in the number one spot
for 13 years, while Grace is a newcomer, bumping last year’s number one girl’s
name, Olivia, out of the top spot.
Just like in the U.S., the girl’s
name Ava, and the boy’s name Jayden, are climbing the popularity charts. The girls’ names in the U.K. in particular
look like a clone of the U.S. list, with favorites like Emily,
Olivia, and Sophie also in the top ten. On the boy’s
side, Harry, Charlie, and Alfie give the top ten a real British
flavor. Here are the top ten boys’ and girls’ names
